Counsel Without Knowledge

As I meet people across the United States I have been encouraged by so many. There truly are tens of thousands of people who face each new day with hope and joy. They are just common people who have a confidence in God’s Word and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Truly we are blessed to have one another in the family of God.

Holding fast to the faith once delivered is so important. Time passes by, the world faces new challenges, morals swing like the pendulum of a clock, and worldliness enters into our thoughts and hearts. It is ever more difficult not to give in to the compelling song of the wisdom of men. Its never ceasing words lure God’s children away from the holy knowledge of the Bible unto carnal.

It is difficult for Christ’s church to know truth from error as taught by “spiritual leaders” of modern day. Seeking wise counsel has been transformed into a multimillion dollar industry. A never ending search for the answer to life’s difficult questions is the driving force, and each empty conclusion leads to another. Counsel by words without knowledge never satisfies the thirsting soul just like junk food never satisfies the hungry body.

What has led so many down this path of ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth? Answering this question is not as important as helping those who are walking it’s winding way. They find themselves without hope and in the pit of great discouragement. Wonderful people of God are wandering from church to church, choosing programs instead of preaching, high mindedness instead of humility and feelings over friendship. Instead of murmuring behind the backs of those Satan has deceived, let us have compassion upon them. May God help us to lead them from a world of confusion to one of hope and joy experienced by so many others throughout the United States and around the world!

The book of Job gives us great insight into this very topic. In chapter thirty eight and verse two God asks, “Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?” Just think, here we have thirty four chapters of counsel between Job and his friends. The Lord speaks from the whirlwind and says the only thing that you have all proved is that you really don’t know me at all! Read Job chapter thirty eight through forty one.

I.                   “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare if thou hast understanding.” 38:4

II.                “Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.” 40:2

III.             “Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.” 41:11

We all need to know the Lord. Not in a surreal mystical way, but have a direct relationship with Him through a first hand knowledge of the Bible. It takes many years to mature your Christian walk. Do not settle for a cheap imitation that will not deliver. Never look for the quick solutions to life’s difficult questions, trust in the Lord. Use the great gifts He has given to us to be complete in Him; Salvation, the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.  Why settle for anything less?
